Emilia is known for her warm jazzy undertones and sultry lush sound, with a big voice and even bigger hair. Performing around Melbourne at some of the best venues with various successful bands (The Mamas, The Emilia Quartet, EMILIA band); ranging from pure soul acts playing in Soul in the Basement/Cherry Bar to the Toff in Town, to jazz at Uptown Jazz Cafe, Dizzy's Jazz Club and Paris Cat Jazz Club.
An active band leader, composer, teacher, pianist and vocalist, Emilia is known for being 'Sugar Mama' in Australian popular band 'The Mamas' - as well as in her career having sung for or alongside the likes of Kate Ceberano and Ari Hoenig, and various big bands and Australian projects.
Emilia for two years was in the cast of the Victorian State Schools Spectacular, and was later tutored by the former heads of The Juilliard Jazz School, under Carl Allen (in the Freddie Hubbard band), Rodney Jones (Chico Hamilton, Dizzy Gillespie), as well as Carla Cook (Grammy Nominee).
Composing since 11 and professionally performing since 18, Emilia has won and been selected in the finals of various prizes and awards, including the PUSH start program, the Monash Jazz Composition Prize, Yamaha Annual Composition Concert, and the Melbourne Fresh composition prize.
